My Skin Care Routine & What Really Helps With My Acne!

Hey guys! I am here to give you my tips and some facts about skin and my personal routine to take care of my skin and acne when I do breakout because of stress or I'm eating unhealthy.
First off, I have combination (mostly oily) skin and my skin is sensitive. I have been dealing with acne right after I got out of high school, but lately I have noticed my skin clearing up and I have only been getting pimples every once and a while and not big ones.

So I'm going to start off with some tips and facts that I have researched and found that have helped my skin and acne improve over the years:

  • DRINK WATER. I drink at the VERY least, 1 bottle a day (thats when I'm very busy)
  • READ YOUR MAKEUP INGREDIENTS. Makeup foundation, primer, bronzer, and all that other stuff we layer on our skin, is made up of A LOT of bad chemicals that we shouldn't be wearing on our skin at all. Avoiding chemicals you're not sure of, avoiding titanium, and potassium, and all those other unfamiliar chemicals will help improve your skin a lot. Also be aware of the word "fragrance" for fragrance actually contains much, MUCH more chemicals that we should not be putting on our faces. So find makeup foundations that have more natural ingredients (this tip also applies to facial cleaners)
  • EATING HEALTHY. Avoid sugar at all costs if you can. I know that when I just have one piece of chocolate (as much as I love it, it causes me a breakout the literal next day), and avoid salts. Eat a lot of fruits (bananas, oranges, strawberries, blueberries), vegetables (the greener, the better), oatmeal, salads, and put lemon in your water. There is a lot more healthier food options then most people think. But everything I listed, I love to eat and it has helped my skin.
  • AVOID SALICYLIC ACID. I know we all have heard of this chemical before. Its suppose to improve your skin and make your acne clear. ITS ALL A GIMIC, kinda. Salicylic Acid does get rid of acne HOWEVER, salicylic acid is too harsh for the skin. What salicylic acid does is it removes the sheds the outer layer skin, which makes the skin deteriorate and become dry. If your skin is TOO dry, then your skins natural reaction is to produce MORE OIL. And if your skin produces more oil, then acne will happen.
  • LASTY, when you are young or you have oily skin, avoid using serums and oil based products. When you're young, your skin has all the oil it needs at the moment, so when you're adding more oil onto the oil that your skin already creates, that also causes acne. So when looking for makeup products and facial cleansers, use products that say "oil free"

Now onto some a makeup produce that I absolutely love and I think has an affect on my skin and acne is the UGB Color Control CC Cream. I got this when I was visiting Seoul, and the lady who helped me said this CC cream contains ginseng (the whole UGB line contains ginseng). And if you don't know what ginseng is, it is a plan that has been used for decades now in Korea and China (mainly) for food, medicine, and most of all skin and makeup products. It is on the pricer side, but I think if you invest in good and healthy products for your skin, then its worth it.

And now two facial cleaner products that I have come to love, the first one is Burt's Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser. If you read the ingredients on this product, it contains a lot of natural and organic ingredients and is also fragrance free, so there are no hidden chemicals.
The second skin care product Dickenson's Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner. Also if you read the ingredients on this product, it is all natural and fragrance free. I use both of these products day and night and they have improved my acne and also my dark spots.

I hope you guys found this helpful! I absolutely love reading ingredients on the bottle of products now and also I love learning about how to improve my skin so this is all fun for me :)
